PRIVACY & DATA PROTECTION POLICY

This privacy policy sets out how the Julie Morton School of Dancing uses and protects any information that you give when you join the school. 

The Julie Morton School of Dancing is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when you are with the school, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

Our school website does not contain any personal details of parents or pupils, only general information about the school and does not use cookies.

On social media, our Facebook account can only be accessed if you choose to join it and also includes no personal information. 

What we collect

We may collect the following information:

• Parent’s/Guardian’s and pupil’s name

• Pupil’s date-of-birth

• Contact information including home address, email address and phone numbers

• Other information relevant to medical conditions and/or SEN requirements.

This information can be kept by the school for a reasonable period after the pupil has left the school, legally three years, but can be deleted at the request of the parents.

What we do with the information we gather

We require this information to keep in contact with all pupils and in particular for the following reasons:

• Internal record keeping

• To contact you in the event of an emergency

• To inform you of changes to class times, exams and to give display information

• To give general information using our Facebook page 

No names or photographs of pupils will be used without the express permission of their parent. 

Security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect.   

Access to any data will be limited to the Principal Mrs Belinda Williams and the Administrator Mr Bill Morton and will be kept secure on password-protected computer or iphone, and any paper records will be kept in a locked cupboard or filing cabinet. 

We do not pass any personal information to any other body or organisation unless obliged by law, or unless we have asked for and received express permission from the parent or pupil concerned. 

We do not sell personal data to any other body, organisation or individual.
